Japanese Cameras Lead the Export Boom
Around 1960, Japanese cameras suddenly became worldwide bestsellers. High quality and low prices earned them solid reviews, and the cameras played a role in building a good "Made in Japan" image. This was still long before Japanese cars were ever exported to Europe or the US.

Toyopet Crown Model RS20
Toyopet Crown Model RS20 The first truly domestic passenger car, the Toyopet Crown was originally sold as a car for individual owners, but soon came to see heavy use as taxis. This display model is a replication of the taxis used at that time. Fares started at 80 yen, and these taxis were not equipped with roof lights.
Datsun Model 211
This utility car enjoyed a good reputation as easy to use and economical. At the time of its production, Datsun was thinking ahead to Japan's near future, and built cars for a Japan that would have highways, too. They came to be known as "the Town Doctor's Datsun," since town doctors often used these cars to make house calls. Datsun Model 211
