Q When is the museum closed?

APlease see here for more information. Every Mondays (closed on the next day when it is a public holiday)/ Year-end and New Year holidays.

Q When is the museum open?

A9:30 - 17:00 (admission until 16:30)

Q How long does it take to see the whole museum?

AIt takes about 1 hour to 1.5 hours. It depends on the level of your interest.

Q Is re-entry to the museum permitted?

AYes, it is only on sameday. You are required to show the ticket upon re-entry.

Q Does the museum accept credit card payments?

APayments by credit card are accepted at all locations including the ticket counter, restaurant, café, and shops.

Q Are discounts available for visitors with physical or intellectual disabilities?

AFor those with disabilities who have various disability certificates (e.g. specific medical expenses recipient certificate), the fees are 300 yen (seniors, adults, middle & high school students) or 200 yen (elementary school students). The fee is free for one caregiver.

Q Is a reservation necessary?

AIf you are visiting as a group, the entry process is smooth if you have a reservation. If you wish a guided tour at the non-prescheduled time (other than 10:15 or 14:00), be sure to book a tour by the day before the visit. If you need a reservation confirmation slip because you are a travel agent, etc., please fax your request.

Q Is photography permitted inside the museum?

AYes, it is. Please show consideration to other visitors if you use a tripod, etc.

Q Is a companion animal allowed entry?

ANo, it isn’t. (A service dog is allowed entry to the museum.)

Q Can you describe the content of the exhibitions?

AWe have approximately 140 automobiles manufactured in Japan, the United States, and Europe on display, which unfold the history of the automobile that spans a little more than 130 years since the advent of petrol-driven automobiles. The automobiles on display are maintained in working condition.

Q Can we touch or get into the automobiles on display?

AThere are three automobiles that you can get into; one in the outdoor exhibition space and two inside the museum. (This is subject to change depending on the situation.) Please refrain from touching or getting into any other automobiles on display.

Q Do you provide guided tours?

AWe provide regular guided tours of the Automobile Gallery at 10:15 and 14:00 every day (one-hour tour). If you wish a guided tour at the non-prescheduled time other than 10:15 or 14:00, please ask us. You can also download our audio guide app (free) onto your smartphone. Q In what language(s) are guided tours provided?

AThe tours are provided in Japanese and English. For other languages, interpreters can accompany you during the tours.

Q Can we bring food into the museum?

APlease refrain from bringing food and beverages into the museum. You are free to bring and eat food and beverages in the lawn plaza instead.

Q Do you have a restaurant?

AWe have a restaurant on the ground floor of the Automobile Gallery and a café on the ground floor of the Cultural Gallery.

Q Can we make a reservation at the restaurant?

AYes. You can do so from the day three months before your desired date. For a party of more than 20 people, we will prepare Japanese Bento Boxed Lunch called “Wariko Bento”.
* We may not be able to accept reservations during busy seasons.

Q Do we have to pay the parking fee? Do we need to reserve the parking space?

AYou don’t have to pay the parking fee or reserve the parking space for your vehicle, regardless of whether it is a regular automobile or a bus. However, please note that you need to reserve the paid parking space in advance when you hold owners’ meetings. Please see here for more information.

Q Do you rent facility spaces?

AYes. We rent the Main Halls A and B (the fees required). Please see here for more information.

Q Is there any place where we can buy souvenirs?

AYes. There is a museum shop. We also sell our goods online. Please see here for more information.

Q Do you have strollers and/or wheelchairs available for rent?

AYes. We rent them for free. You can ask for one (or them) at the reception on the day that you visit the museum.

Q Do you have any place where we can give breast milk or formula to babies
  and/or change diapers?

AYes. We have nursing rooms with baby cribs, baby chairs, hot-water supply equipment.

Q Do you have AC wall outlets?

AYes. They are located opposite the elevators and in the restaurant on the ground floor of the Automobile Gallery.

Q Can we charge PHVs (plug-in hybrid vehicles) or BEVs (battery electric vehicles)?

AYes. You can use our charging stand to charge your PHV or BEV (up to 7 vehicles).

Q We would like to write an article about the museum. How are we supposed
  to proceed? (We would like to use photos of the museum for the article.)

AYou need to request the interview (apply for permission to use photos) from here.
