Screening Process
The selection committee meeting of the Toyota Environmental Activities Grant Program (Chair: Dr. Keiko Nakamura, Director General, JT Biohistory Research Hall) was held and the grantees for the FY 2009 were selected.
Selection Committee
The Selection Committee, whose members are entrusted by TOYOTA, will select the projects to be supported. The following are the members of the Selection Committee.

Selection Criteria
The proposed projects should acknowledge the Program objectives, key theme and grant categories and fulfill the application requirements. The following criteria will be applied for applications submitted under small-scale grants in the screening by the Selection Committee.

Description

Appropriateness of the project
· The projects that lead to “Biodiversity Conservation” or “Global Warming Countermeasures”
· The proposed projects that involve practical community-based participatory actions for the protection of local environment.
Efficiency of the project
· The projects should raise environmental awareness and promote concrete environmental actions.
Continuity and future development of the project
· The projects should continue to be further developed even after completion.
Collaboration with local communities
· The projects should fully consider local contexts and the needs of the project implementation site, such as natural environment, geography, culture, economy, community and history.
Funding sources
· The projects should be implemented only with the fund from Toyota Environmental Activities Grant Program, and with the self-fund as a supplement, if necessary.

Notification of Results
First-stage Selection
· Applicants will be notified of results by e-mail in the middle of July 2009.
· Detail on the final selection will be informed to the applicants who are qualified to the final selection with the results of first-stage selection.
Final Selection
· Applicants will be notified of results by e-mail by the end of October 2009.
· The grant winners will officially be announced on the TOYOTA website.
