TOKYO, September 24, 2008 — Lexus announced today that it will open Lexus International Gallery Aoyama—its fourth directly managed display space in Japan—on October 10 in Tokyo's trendy Aoyama area, home to numerous luxury-brand stores and showrooms.
With an exterior that blends with its city surroundings and an interior highlighted by a novel sculpture that extends vertically into a vaulted space, Lexus International Gallery Aoyama achieves a spatial design indicative of the upscale feeling that is Lexus. Especially designed for this space (by Yamaha Corporation) is a sound environment that integrates indirect sound and beam-forming technologies aimed at allowing visitors to forget the hustle and bustle outside.
Lexus International Gallery Aoyama's changing displays, including concept vehicles shown at major motor shows throughout the world, are meant to underline for the gallery's Japanese visitors the global presence of Lexus as a premium brand. And as the gallery offers multi-lingual services, non-speakers of Japanese can learn about Lexus products and have test drives arranged; the staff can also provide general information on vehicle ownership in Japan, such as information on traffic regulations, obtaining a driver's license, and driving in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
Opening on the same day with four service bays and an inspection line is Lexus Aoyama (owned and operated by Tokyo Toyopet Motor Sales Co., Ltd.), the area's first Lexus outlet. A common entrance helps provide a seamless experience for visitors to either or both Lexus Aoyama and Lexus International Gallery Aoyama.
The opening of these new facilities is part of Lexus' commitment to better meeting customers' needs through detailed service that increases its value as a global premium brand.
